It's A Boy!!!

As we sat in the ultrasound room and the doctor told us that there were "male parts" visible on the screen, Chris and I sat quietly as the news sunk in. I think we both fully expected to hear those words but it became so much more real when it was finally confirmed. We don't have many friends with little boys, and those that do say they spend most of their time trying to keep these little boys from killing themselves. That is the thought that was running through our minds at the doctor's office yesterday. Now that we've had a little time for it to sink in, we're starting to get more excited. Neither of us have much experience with kids so either way was going to be something very new for us. I'm glad I can finally talk to my little boy and not have to call him just "baby" anymore. =)

The doc took a bunch of measurements of the head and arm and leg bones and everything appeared to be normal, so that is good news! It was pretty cool to see the heart beating on the ultrasound machine too. Baby boy's estimated weight right now is 13oz which is a week ahead according to what we've read. And somehow I only gained 1 more lb since my last appointment almost 4 weeks ago... so total gained so far is up to 9lbs.

We had a nice get-together over at Kara and Chris's house last night to make the announcement to a small group of our friends (and their children who are all girls). This is the cookie cake that everyone had to wait to see:
