The Harvey Family: February {2018}

This month Brett:

loves playing Monopoly Junior and requests that we play it any time we sit down for a family board game. He always goes first because the rules say that the youngest goes first, and in this game, it is extremely beneficial (and more often than not allows you to win) to go first. He and Blake are both really into money and buying things so this game is right up their alley without being as long lasting as the original game of Monopoly. There are a few different variations you can play and they add just enough to the game to make it pretty fun for the whole family.
likes his sandwiches with two types of jelly. He has been mostly eating Sunbutter and jelly sandwiches for lunch lately, but he must have strawberry AND grape jelly (to make sure he gets enough sugar I guess).
started taking Myralax to keep him "regular". We started out with a capfull in his juice every day, and we're down to 1/2 a capfull and he seems to be doing really well with it. He makes sure to remind me that he needs his "powder" with his drink at lunch so hopefully we'll get him back on track before too long.
likes Legos. I think he plays with them at school a little but he's never asked for them at home. The last time his cousin's visited, Grandad and Nana brought a set of random Legos for the boys and Brett loves creating all kinds of different things (and insisting that I make him all sorts of things as well).
loves playing Lego Marvel Superheros on the PS3. He has finally figured out enough about how the controller works and he can make his character move and jump and do it's special move. He wants to play it any time that Chris is around because it's their special "boy bonding" game.
has had a much bigger appetite at lunch. Now that he is having more regular bowel movements, he is hungry all the time and eats a ton for lunch. I used to have to bug him for an hour to get him to finish a sandwich, but now he'll eat that plus a cheese stick and fruit and he's asking for more!
says "Yeet!" a lot. The boys watch Collins Key on YouTube and he has a channel where he does random challenges (and he uses clean language) so the kids love him. When he has trash that he doesn't know what to do with he'll toss it over his shoulder and say "Yeet!" so Brett thinks it's hilarious to imitate him.

This month Blake:

learned how to crochet. He saw me doing it and he wanted to learn, so I taught him how to do the chain stitch. I had to teach him how to do it without holding everything in your hands at once, so until he can do that, we won't be able to move onto the next type of stitch. He seems pretty happy making long chains and then using them as whips to throw at people (eye roll).
has gotten into playing video games. For years, he would much rather sit and watch Chris play video games and when offered a turn, he would either get upset and yell or cry because he didn't want the chance to fail I think. Now that he has given it a chance, he is really good at it. The boys play Lego Marvel Superheros and there are a ton of different characters you can be and they all have different powers so you have to choose the right one for each task. Blake is amazing at figuring out the right person for each job quickly, and he is a natural.
skin has been perfect except for a small spot on his right wrist. We're not sure if it because his skin has been covered up with long sleeves and long socks and pants and nothing has been able to rub his skin to irritate it, or if it is because it has been a really cold winter and there haven't been any plants blooming to cause allergies. Whatever the case, we're so thankful that his skin has been so healthy again this winter (it was great last winter too). The only spot that seems to pop up is on the bottom on his right wrist, and it is probably because he uses that hand to write and it must rub on his desk at school. Luckily it is such a small spot that we can take care of it before it gets too bad.
has decided he doesn't want to eat sugar except for the pack of Starbursts he got for his birthday. Ever since he got sick with that flu-like sickness a few weeks back, he hasn't wanted to eat dessert after his meals. He used to like a cookie or a few pieces of chocolate, but now he will only eat fruit snacks sometimes or nothing at all. He says that sugar is bad for you and he doesn't want it (he listens to every little thing I say..).
seems to do much better sleeping by himself. For as long as we've lived in Ohio, he's needed someone by his side while he sleeps and if he woke in the middle of the night and no one was there, he would grab his pillow and go find someone to snuggle up to. Lately he'll just stay in bed even if no one is therel

Blake made his own Valentine's mailbox for school. He was really proud of it!

Both boys wanted to give something related to art for their Valentines and they thought pencils and a little notepad were the perfect choice.

We had some really good kite flying weather in February. The winds were crazy strong and there were a couple days that were warm enough to get outside. After a long cold winter, it was a welcomed change.
