Brett's 3rd Birthday Party

For Brett's 3rd birthday he decided to have a SUPERHERO themed party and we had a great time! The kids loved being superheros and even the grownups got to throw on some capes. =) It was a little rainy as we were setting up but once everyone arrived and we got suited up the skies cleared and we were able to have all the events outside which was just perfect! Even our little backyard and patio seemed to be just big enough for everything (which was much easier than having it in 2 different locations). I'm so thrilled with how everything turned out and hopefully Brett remembers this birthday (if not he'll have pics and videos to relive it).

Our theme colors were red, yellow, and blue which was really bright and fun.

Superheros were everywhere. Brett was so excited when he saw all the decorations for the first time.

Everyone had a gift bag with a few goodies, plus room to take home their capes and masks.

We kept a list of all the different games that we played to keep track of which ones we had done and which were left to do. We decided last minute to do them all outside since the weather was basically perfect!

The Captain American Shield Throw

We decorated a frisbee and the goal was to throw it through a hoola-hoop.

Wonder Woman Lasso

We used a pool ring tied to some rope and the goal was to toss it around a cone. This was pretty hard so most of them ended up about 1 foot from the cone.

Superman Kryptonite Pick Up

We made kryptonite balls out of aluminum foil painted with neon green paint. We split into 2 teams and each team got a grabber to pick them up. The team with the most at the end was the winner.

Batman Bomb Diffuse

This one took the longest time to make but it was really fun. I blew up a bunch of black balloons with red ribbon to make them look like bombs and put a goody inside each one. The goal was to pop the balloons to get the goody inside. There were about 6 per kid because I got too tired to make anymore. There were enough to fill up a laundry basket and a trash bag plus a few more that wouldn't fit.

Spiderman Web Toss

For this one we made a web out of tape on a big piece of cardboard and the kids tossed 3 bean bags for each turn. They got 100 for the center part, 50 for the middle, and 25 for the outer part. Then we kept score on our easel.

Flash Dash

After all the organized games it was time for some running. We came up with a simple obstacle course which consisted of ducking under pool noodles anchored with stakes, jumping over Captain America's shield, and then dashing to the end marked by cones.

Villain Tie-up

This ended up being the most time consuming event but it was quite funny. We had 3 people act as villains (thank you Mimi, Hendrix, and Abby!) and the kids used party streamers to tie them up. Then at the end they all had to try and break out.

Aqua Man Water Targets

Then our last event was one that got everyone wet. We made targets out of small plates taped to solo cups (with superhero logos on them and a rock inside to weigh it down) and gave the kids water squirters and a 5 gallon bucket full of water. They were knocking them over faster than they could be set back up. The kids had a blast!
