- started potty training for real. After 3 days he really started to get the hang of it and would ask if he had his diaper on (which we still do at night and nap time although he seems to do well at nap time). We used a reward system where he would get a magnet each time he went on the potty, and when he got to 3 he would get a reward. The rewards were new underwear, stickers, temporary tattoos, candy, and other treats that we had lying around the house. The first things he chose were the new superhero underwear that he picked out at the store, and after that he went right for the sweets. He has been doing really great and he even does well out of the house!
- is very emotional. He gets angry really easily and he loves so hard when someone needs it. He is so quick to grab something and throw it as soon as he doesn't get his way and gets upset. No amount of time outs seem to stop it. We're working on coping strategies but it is slow going.
- loves watching Umi Zoomi and Dora the Explorer on Amazon. He loves to learn and those shows seem to stimulate him enough to keep his interest.
- hates to go to bed alone at night. For some reason he does great going to bed by himself for nap time but at night he comes up with every excuse possible to not have to fall asleep alone. I guess it is darker at night even though we have really good blackout shades that make it super dark during the day.
- hasn't grasped the concept of "treat others the way you want to be treated" because he just can't seem to stop treating Blake badly and expecting nothing to happen in return. When they're outside playing with water and he gets Blake, he gets so upset when I tell Blake to get him back. One day it'll sink in.
This month Blake:
- is obsessed with Clash Royale. It is a game you can play on a mobile device that is simple enough in concept but has so many different characters and levels that you can learn about and he has learned a ton from watching Chris play. They both have bonding time watching YouTube videos of other people playing and learn from all the games played on there as well. There is definitely strategy involved and Blake seems to catch on to it. We also set up one of our old smart phones so that he can play on it as well. It has actually been caught up to Chris's phone enough to where they can play together against other 2 player teams and they've done really well.
- refuses to take a nap or sit still for quiet time anymore. He doesn't go to bed early enough at night and is always tired during the day but he fights sleep so hard. If we get in the car he'll fall asleep though.
- loves water. He's always loved water, but now that the weather is getting warmer, he wants to go outside and play with it every day. Most of the time he just wants to water the ground outside. Depending on the day he'll request to play with squirt bottles, squirt guns, the watering can or just cups of water and the water table. Oh and rain is good too.
- graduated preschool and is ready to move onto Kindergarten. He does enjoy being at school and it has been good for him to have someone else be in charge of teaching him and helping him get ready for real school next year. It was good that he was at a school that was peanut free again and this time he was expected to eat snack with everyone else instead of bringing his own snack. If he wanted it he would eat it, but if not he would just say "no thanks" and just have water. From what he told me he only refused the ice cream and cheeze-its.
The boys had a great time playing in the rain one day. It wasn't too cold, just right.

I'm kinda obsessed with my plants right now so here are a few pics of them. First are the blossoms on the tomato plants.
Then the beautiful leaves of the zucchini plants. They are probably bigger than my head now. The leaves are mammoth!
The tomato plants are so pretty with tons of new leaves every day.
The marigold plants are growing like crazy now that we found a good spot for them in the sun. They smell a little weird but they are supposed to keep bad bugs away from the veggie plants.

While Mimi was in town we tried to get a pic of her and the boys. Something about Blake's eyes are so sensitive to the sun and he is always squinting.
Then it was my turn to try. This was the best we could get. Happy Mother's Day!

And of course Brett couldn't be left out so he just took Blake's sign.
The boys got to go strawberry picking for the first time and loved it.
Brett got right into after I showed him how to pick them and which ones were worth picking.
He did a great job picking all the nice red ones.
Blake took a little longer to get the hang of it. He was very concerned with reaching under the plants to find the berries.
So proud of his find!
The boys did great and we got done just as it started to sprinkle on us.
All cleaned and ready to eat as soon as we got home. They weren't the sweetest I've ever had but they were the freshest I've had in a while! I was totally surprised that Blake ate almost half of the ones he picked and he will never eat them when I bring them home from the store.
