The Harvey Family: Blake

Blake:

still stops in his tracks when he hears music. He can be running along at the zoo and as soon as he hears music coming from anywhere he stops and tilts his head (like a puppy) and asks if I "hear dat sound?"
looks at himself in the mirror a lot. He's pretty obsessed with looking at himself any chance he gets so he loves playing in the playroom (formerly the dining room) and at MyGym because he can just watch his every move. Sometimes it get dangerous at MyGym when he'll be crossing a bridge that runs parallel to the mirror and instead of watching where he's stepping, he watches himself in the mirror.
gets these intense big eyes when he wants to either be cute or just has way too much energy. Sometimes he'll open his eyes really wide and tilt his head to the side and talk in a really low drawn out voice and it's pretty darn funny. He has become quite the entertainer and will put on a show for anyone as long as he's having fun and feels comfortable.
somehow picked up a southern accent. He pronounces a lot of words with a southern drawl and I'm not exactly sure where it came from. Maybe he's just getting the hang of saying new word sounds but I really thought it was a phase he'd grow out of once he figured out how to say things correctly... we're still waiting for that to happen.
got some new shoes. He's at a weird stage where his feet have started to thin out but they aren't growing quite as fast as they had been so we decided to go up a half size this time to an 8 since the 8.5 were kind of ridiculous. We went down in the width to a wide instead of the extra wide since the XW was pretty intense and had way too much room. We went with a newer style and they're fabric instead of the nice leather that he's gotten used to and I think they're going to take a little more breaking in unfortunately. We've decided to try and get the last couple weeks out of his older shoes until we officially move him up to the new ones.
uses big sentences in conversation a lot of the time now. He is so expressive which makes it even cuter. A few that I wrote down are; (talking to his Mickey doll) "oh no, i can't find yellow ball anywhere Mickey" and (talking to Daddy after knocking down the Lego tower) "I need a glue stick, I think".
wakes up and stands at his crib and says "Mommy, where are youuuuu?" Our monitor lets you talk through it so we can tell him "I'll be there in a minute" and he knows we're on our way so he can relax and just wait instead of hollering until we get there.
has no trouble talking to strangers. At the park and the store if he sees a child (could be much older than him, could even be a girl) he'll say "hi little boy, how ya doin?"
will finally sing the alphabet song but he never seems to go past P. When he gets there he starts over at A again. He listens to the song all the time and I try and help him sing it but it is just not clicking that Q comes next.

We went to the park in search of pine cones since he saw them in one of his books. This was the best one we could find.

Loving the slide. Every time he got to the bottom he'd say "I do again" or "pink slide so fun".

This kid is so funny, he's always talking! About 75% of the pictures I took caught him with his mouth open.

Exploring the rest of the park.

Daddy helped Blake build a huge tower which is even more exciting to knock over.

Learning new skills with the hammer, he can now remove a nail with the back side of the hammer after he gets the nails in place.

He loves his new Monster Trucks that Tee-Tee got him for Christmas (we just brought them out because he already had so many new things from Christmas).

You smash down the little lever and it shoots the truck down the track. We ended up getting another truck so they could each run down their own tracks and ram into each other.
