Blake - 21 Months

Blake:

  • counts 1-12 regularly and sometimes over and over. Once he gets to 12 he normally starts over again at 8.
  • has been taking a bath everyday. It seemed to be helping his skin a few weeks ago since his abdomen and back started getting a consistent covering in pink dots this fall and the baths appeared to help keep the dots lighter in color and less raised. Just rinsing him off was enough to keep his eczema under control as long as no new foods set him off, but recently his picky eating has made me nervous that he isn't getting enough calories. I've started trying to introduce new foods that didn't have many ingredients but it seems like anything he'll try to eat turns out causing his eczema to go nuts.
  • jumps a lot. He loves to stand in place and jump over and over and a lot of times he'll count each jump as well. He's starting to get some air too.
  • says yummy when eating a food he likes.
  • let me cut his hair kinda. The last haircut was a disaster since he was scared the whole time so I decided to try cutting it myself this time. I took the scissors to the edges and the buzz trimmer to the back and at least got the majority of it cleaned up. He made friends with "buzz buzz" the trimmer and allowed me to get the back of his hair fixed up a bit. Hopefully he'll let the professional do it next time since I'm not sure I can make it look decent enough for too long.
  • had to be introduced to time out. He's been getting quite defiant and laughs really hard when he does things he's not supposed to. He's also learning which things push Mommy and Daddy's buttons differently.
  • continues to be a super picky eater. On a good day we've added up the calories and it isn't even to the low end of what he is supposed to be eating. However, he doesn't seem to have any lack of energy during the days so it must not be affecting him too much.
  • is getting much more outgoing. He has no problem going up to strangers and saying "hi everybody" and waving with this adorable little wave. He also likes to check in with me and Chris during the day and will say "hi Mommy" and "hi Daddy" if he wants to get our attention or just make sure he's able to get our attention for a second.

Just hanging out with teddy during a drink break.

When he drinks his juice/water, he is in the zone. If you try and take it away he'll act like a rabid dog and try and bite your arm off. Ok I'm exaggerating a little...

So happy with a belly full of liquid.

Giving teddy a ride on his bike.

Helping Daddy with the laundry.

Watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and loving the music, and singing and dancing. He also got to see a lot of real instruments for the first time (other than in his books).

This was the coldest day that we'd seen in a really long time. Low of 39 and high of 66!

We went to a local farm and Blake got to hold a guinea pig. He didn't understand how to pet it so he would gently hit it until we showed him how to pet.

After he fed the deer some lettuce.

The newest obsession at the zoo, the merry-go-round. He would ride this over and over if it didn't make me totally dizzy and sick.

The Christmas Tree right next to where Blake goes to MyGym. It doesn't look that big but it is huge!

Blake playing with his buddy Logan across the street at his Grandma JoJo's house. They always have fun tools and random items to play with. The hose is a favorite.

Our little Thanksgiving spread. We were going to go to a friend's house but they ended up getting sick so we had a small feast at home.

This boy loves to talk.

Dancing in a circle.

Lots of dancing.

His new basketball hoop was a hit!
