Blake - Week 42

This week, Blake:

  • has been cruising and crawling around like a maniac. When he sees something he wants, he gets excited and giggles, then moves as fast as he can toward it. He has been a much happier baby now that his body can take him where his mind wants to go.
  • got his first nail clipping that wasn't with the nail file. I have to admit I was a little nervous about it but I just waited for each clip to make sure he wasn't going to go crazy and jerk his hand out of the way. It is SO much faster though, that's for sure.
  • continues to wake up crying just about every time he wakes up. It doesn't matter if it is a nap or when he wakes up in the morning. I'm looking forward to him outgrowing this one. The doctor seemed to think it was separation anxiety but it happens even when we're in the same room so I'm not so sure.
  • said Dada when Daddy got home from work one day. I told him daddy was home before Chris walked into the house and then he looked at daddy and said it when he got here. It was so cute!
  • continues to love books. He loves it when we read the books that rhyme to him. After we're done reading each book, he likes to take it and just flip through the pages on his own. We're trying to distract him from eating them now that some of his favorite books are destroyed. =/
  • loves screws. When we went to mother goose story time at the library, while all the other kids went up afterward to look at the puppets and stuffed animals, Blake just got really close to the stage and felt the screws that held it together. He was only interested in mother goose's shoe laces and the screws that held the stage together. We might have an engineer on our hands...?
  • started having some luck with finger foods. Last week we just practiced picking up the puffs, and this week he was actually able to get some of them in his mouth. We're at about 50% or so, since half of them he ends up just dropping in his lap or he throws them on the floor once he's tired of eating them.
  • for food each day typically has a breastfeed first thing in the morning, then at 9:30 he eats breakfast which is fruit puree and 2 oz of milk, then at noon he gets breastfed again, then at 2:15 he gets 3 Tbsp of rice cereal (mixed with milk) and his fruit juice/water mixture, and then dinner is around 5:15 and he gets veggie puree and a couple oz of milk and any other finger food we have. Then he gets 2 oz milk as part of his bedtime routine.
  • has been drumming on everything. He just wants to bang his hands on everything possible; his tray table, the couches, us, etc.
  • outgrew his old Chicco carseat which was rated up to 30 lb or 30" long. We moved the bigger Britax carseat out of Chris's car into mine and he'll be able to use this one up until 70 lbs.
Week 42 Pics:

He loves his sit to stand walker toy. For now he loves the console on the front with all the toys and lights.

He looks so much like his Uncle Mike when he was little!

Such pretty blue eyes.

Dancing to the music.

Waving that finger. <3

In his reading corner.

The excited "I'm going to cruise over and get you" look.

I want a closer look at that camera mom.

He loves reading his touch and feel books by himself. He scratches all the textures.

Me and my Blakers. <3

Videos:

This new chomping thing he's been doing. Maybe just practicing for eating food.
