The Harvey Family: Blake

This week, Blake:

has been interested in touching and feeling new things even more, especially people's faces. He started doing this last week, but I forgot to add it to the list. When I lean over the edge of his crib to say hi in the morning before I pick him up, he will touch both sides of my face and smile.
is getting really good at taking medicine from the dropper. He's getting used to the Zantac and Maalox and either enjoys the game of tasting each drop or knows that it makes him feel better. I think he just enjoys it because it's fun to play.
has been on an interesting eating schedule and wanted to eat a lot right before bed and then stay up later a couple nights this week, ugh. We had such a good thing going when he'd go to bed at 9pm =). This could be due to the fact that...
seems to be teething. He has tons of drool, wants to chew on his hands and our fingers constantly, and has been very fussy, not loud screaming, just constant fussing/whining. He had a low grade fever of 100.0 one night but it went down to normal in a couple hours.
continued to be on his Alimentum formula and I've been keeping up with no dairy and soy to see how this affected him. He seems to be doing well for the most part, as far as his tummy is concerned. The main difference we've noticed is that he isn't pooping on a normal schedule lately. It used to be once or twice a day, but now he'll skip a day here and there. The big change though has been with blowouts. He hasn't had a single blowout diaper since the new diet took effect. Beforehand, he would have one every day.
seems to be getting better at going to bed on his own in the crib at night. I'll put him in there before he's totally asleep and he tosses for a couple minutes and usually falls asleep without me having to go pick him up and carry him around until he's actually asleep. Hopefully the bedtime routine has helped with this (except for him wanting to stay awake later this week).
went to the doc on Friday afternoon after a quick trip to the daycare to get more familiar with the place. We had a long list of questions for the doctor that have been on our minds for a while now. We still don't know why he has his crazy screaming fits but hope he'll grow out of it soon. We're going to try and thicken up his bottles with some rice cereal and hope it helps with his spit up. He has a super dry patch on the top of each foot that has been there a few weeks so we're going to try some cortisone.
weighed in at 16lb 11oz at the doctor on Friday. He seems to be on a very consistent growth curve that should start to slow down around 6 months old.
still loves to have people sing to him. He'll be doing his constant fussy thing, but he'll stop fussing and get all smiley if we start singing to him.
giggled for real. Of course it was on the changing table and I had taken off his clothes because he made a mess of them. He loves having no clothes on and being on that changing table. He loves when I sing to him and make my head move with the song and then we played the tickle monster game and I nibbled up under his chin and he was giggling for real. It's the best sound ever!
went thru phases during the day of not spitting up, then spitting up 10+ times in less than 2 hours. It doesn't seem to be more with formula vs. breastmilk that we can tell. This boy is a spit-up machine...
switched to size 3 diapers a few weeks ago but again, I forgot to post it. We're just about done with our first box of 164. We were hoping it would help with the blowouts but it didn't. However, the new diet does seem to make a difference. We won't know if it was just maturity or the diet until we try to add soy or dairy back in.
has been taking 30 minute naps. Not 29 or 34, but 30 on the dot... quite strange and not enough time to get anything done, haha.
