- has been sucking on his hands and fingers A LOT. Gone are the days that we could keep the germs away by keeping our own hands clean. Now we have to constantly make sure everything he touches is clean because those hands are going in the mouth. He is curious with what's going on when we change his diaper so he'll try and feel around down there... dangerous! Changing a poopy diaper is quite the juggling act, especially if he blew it out. Wipe, keep him covered so he doesn't pee on the wall, keep his hands out of the way, make sure he doesn't grab whatever we have covering him, oh and actually change out the diaper. Not to mention if it's a blow out we have to clean his whole back and disrobe him. It does seem to entertain him, since he gets very smiley once the whole thing is over.
- slowly started to twist his body closer to a roll. While he's on the gymini he rolls to the side a little so he can reach his arm upward and swing it toward the toys.
- scooched himself all the way to the top of the crib while he slept a couple different nights, so when to get him out of bed in the morning he is pinned to the top rail. This means no more hanging burp cloths over the edge of the crib. His hands are ridiculously sticky and if he swings an arm around and makes contact with one of the cloths you can guarantee he'll pull it right off and onto himself.
- started reaching for things and grabbing them. When he plays with the gymini he'll push his fists straight out in front of him (and hold them there with the bottom of his fist pushing forward) and once he makes contact with something he'll start to open up his hands to grab. He gets lucky and catches a giraffe leg in between his fingers every now and then. He is so excited about it and you can see the determination on his face before he actually raises his arms up there. So cute!
- is getting closer to laughing. It certainly isn't a full blown giggle laugh yet but it's a little more than cooing. The most he laughs is with his hanging toys and sometimes when I talk to him and tickle his cheeks when we play the "parts of the face" game. I'll point out different parts on his face and say what they are and then do the same on my face so he can see what it looks like. The cheeks are his favorite. =)
- has been arching his back when I slide my hand under him to pick him up off his back. It's like he knows it helps give me a spot to grab him.
- loves ceiling fans, especially when they're moving. He can keep himself entertained for a good amount of time just watching it go around and around. He had trouble going to sleep on Thursday night so I got him out of his crib because he was fussy and as soon as I laid him on a pillow on the couch he looked up at the fan and just gave a big smile.
- stayed awake longer during the days this week. Sadly this makes it much easier to miss his nap time and that is bad news every time. He had a couple crying/screaming fits because he got so tired that he couldn't go to sleep.
- weighed in at 14lb 10oz this week based on our scale at home and measured 25 inches long.
Week 14 Pics:
Just swiped his favorite hanging toy.
Reaching and touching some toys.
Almost got the giraffe leg again.
This is so fun!
Big smiles! =)
Daddy is my favorite. I love looking at him and he makes me smile. <3
Fun time on the gymini.
A little tummy time on the floor (we are still trying to find other spots to do it since the floor never ends well).
This is Blake getting ready to move up to the Bumbo seat next. He still needs a hand close-by in case his head falls backward.
Blake thinks getting his mouth wiped is a game and we're giving him another toy to eat.
