- has been breastfeeding much more efficiently. When he's hungry he's got quite a suction. He's come a long way from the days where his sucking alone couldn't trigger a let down. I breastfeed him during the days on the weekends which helps keep my milk production up since I only pump every 6 hours or so during the weekdays.
- moved his bedtime backward so it's closer to 9-9:30PM. That's fine as long as he wants to sleep until 6 but that hasn't exactly been the case this week. He had a couple days this week where he woke up at 4:30AM which wasn't very fun. We think it could be related to the temperature in the house... if it's too warm he seems to wake up. Somewhere between 3 and 4AM it gets up to 73 in his room and it's enough to make him squirm around for a while. If we set the air down one degree before bed, it gets to 65 in his room which seems extra cold though.
- has been doing his best to avoid his late afternoon nap and still ends up going to bed late (around 9pm or later). He is very particular about how he can nap. It can only be in the swing with music and he has to be in the right mood (hasn't gone past the point of no return).
- was able to entertain himself in the Rock n Play in the middle of the kitchen while I made dinner... much easier (and safer) than trying to make dinner with one hand.
- discovered the television. We know he's not "supposed" to watch it for the first 2 years but it is the only thing that distracts him enough and is good enough motivation for tummy time. We're trying to get him to use his arms to support himself while he has his head up but he hasn't really figured out how to use them fully yet. He likes to just throw them out to the side and basically do a Superman. That just seems much more difficult than it needs to be, silly boy!
- has been putting his hands together a lot more and even holds his own hands. He can start to hold a ball if I put it near his chest. He'll grab it with both hands and move it toward his mouth but it isn't a firm grip and it doesn't stay there too long... but it's a start!
- didn't do very well with naps in general (maybe he did better for Mimi). He is more interested in staying awake since the world has so much to look at and explore.
- went to his first birthday party, (Happy Birthday Kalia!) and did really well with all the new people and commotion.
- weighed in at 15lb+. Our scale isn't exactly consistent but we're pretty sure he jumped up in weight from the 14.6lb he's been hanging around for a week or 2.
- sat in his Bumbo seat for the first time. He doesn't really like it since it's a new position for him, plus I think the position makes his diaper tight on his tummy. He seems to be amused with all the looking around he can do. It fits him pretty well right now since it will catch his head from falling backward, however, his chunky thighs get stuck when I try to lift him out, hahaha.
- got to meet his great aunt Sheryl and great uncle Robby when they drove down from Georgia to visit.
- has been spitting up like crazy. It doesn't matter if he's held upright for 30 minutes after eating, he'll spit up if he's horizontal or held upright at any moment during the day. Also, it doesn't matter if he's bottle fed or breastfed, food is coming back up. His cousin Tristan must've told him that all the cool kids spit up...
- started drooling. He is just saturating his bibs these days. At any moment it seems like he has spit up, drool, or both just streaming out of his mouth. And then to add to the mess he decides it is time to stick his fist in there so he can spread it around his face. =)
- started using both of his hands to bat at his hanging toys on the gymini. He'll raise both hands up above his head while lying on the floor and then swing them and hit all the toys at once.
15 Week Pics:
I know we post a lot of pics on the Gymini, but he spends a lot of time on it. Every week he seems to develop a new skill on it. Here he is reaching for his toys.
Grabbing onto his toys.
He is looking so much older!
He can really swing those arms around and hit the toys.
Holding his ball and trying to eat it.
The ball was interesting at first but since my hand is here I'll eat it instead.
Sitting in the bumbo with his bobble head.
At Kalia's bday party.
Tummy time with TV as the motivation. He's not interested in toys, but give him the TV and he'll hold that head up.
Swinging both arms at his toys on the Gymini.
