The Harvey Family: December {2016}

This month Brett:

loves watching Creative Galaxy. A second season was just released and he loves the one with the tooth pillow. He requests to watch it on his Kindle before bed every night.
likes to be snuggly and warm. He typically has been wearing a long sleeved shirt and sweater to keep warm most days. I don't know what it is with kids and no socks but I wish he'd just leave them on. He also loves to snuggle under covers and with people to stay warm. If he is cold he wants to be held constantly, so luckily I finally figured out the correlation.
wants to do everything himself like butter toast and make his own breakfast. He is very strong willed and wants the satisfaction of doing everything on his own. He will fight until he gets to do most things.
pretends to be a dog when he eats and uses no hands. He thinks this is hilarious and says "me is a dog" and proceeds to put his face into his food. Ugh.
likes to cut paper into tiny strips. He has gotten really good at using scissors and I don't really worry about him with them anymore, but it's amazing the mess he can make with a small piece of paper and a pair of scissors.
has to be destructive. He likes to start fights with Blake and will run up and just punch him. Also, he just feels compelled to knock things off of tables and onto the floor constantly. Needless to say, it drives me up a wall with our small apartment and lack of floor space.
just couldn't leave the tv stand alone so we had to put the baby gate back up to keep him from messing with everything. I was hoping we could teach him to leave it alone but he just isn't ready for that yet.

This month Blake:

likes Rube Goldman machines. He became totally obsessed with one we saw on Creative Galaxy and we ended up watching hours of them on YouTube and he was just mesmerized. He always wants to make our own at home but then wants me to design them. He is stuck at the domino effect and basically just wants to roll something down a ramp and then have dominoes knock something off a table.
loves watching Phineas and Ferb. Thankfully this show is pretty hilarious and entertaining for grown ups too. He initially got into them because they make all kinds of inventions which is definitely something he wants to do when he's older.
doesn't want to eat breakfast. It is like pulling teeth to get him to eat breakfast. All he wants is his rice milk while he watches a tv show, then once he's had his fill of milk he wants pop chips and juice to wash it down. Apparently milk doesn't go with pop chips. He used to eat bacon, eggs, and toast with maple syrup but those aren't doing it for now.
doesn't need to wear jackets outside in the cold. We basically just stopped putting him in jackets because he doesn't want to wear them in the car and then he takes them off as soon as he gets through the front door of wherever we're going and I have to hold it the whole time. He can make it from the car to inside without any issues so he just doesn't wear a jacket as long as it is above 20 degrees.
reads everything. He loves reading anything and everything as long as it is on a sign and not in a book. He blows my mind with the things he reads because we've passed the phonetic words and moved onto things that are beyond that. We haven't spent much time going over the long vowel sounds but he somehow figures them out based on what sounds like it would make sense. I've had to teach him the "ph" sound because he runs into that one a lot and it throws him off.
