The Harvey Family: January, February, and March {2019}

This month Brett:

was the star of the week the last week in Feb. Each child in his preschool class got to have their very own special week. On the first day they trace your outline on a giant piece of paper and color you in. You also get to bring in a special mystery object that gets placed in a box and everyone has to figure out what it is. You bring in pictures of you and your family and then on the last day of the week, you get to bring in a guest reader. Brett was so happy that he got to bring Mimi to read to his class. He picked out a couple pop-up books that everyone loved. It was good that he got a week to be special while Blake was getting to celebrate his birthday week.
had his first visit to the emergency room. We had some sickness pass through the house and everyone got something. Brett said he wasn't feeling well so he stayed home from school on a Monday. He had a fever of 103+ towards the end of the day so we called the pediatrician who told us to just give him some Tylenol before bed to lower the fever and help him get some sleep. He hadn't had a nap the second half of the day and he had been sitting in the same spot on the couch all day long (with the exception of going to the bathroom once) so he was not feeling great and was extremely tired. We gave him Tylenol around 8:15pm and he went to bed. He woke up around 11pm and was acting like he wasn't comfortable. I tried to get him to tell me what he needed and what was wrong but he wouldn't answer me. We couldn't get him to make eye contact and he wouldn't perform simple tasks like stick out your tongue (he poked it around inside his closed mouth) or squeeze my hand. He was sitting up in bed but just seemed like he wasn't all there. He wouldn't/couldn't speak and had this look in his eyes like he knew what we were saying but physically couldn't move his body to respond. We were worried something had happened with his fever spiking even though he never had a seizure. We decided we were freaked out enough to take him to the ER. First we saw the triage nurse who had trouble getting anything out of him either. We told her that it wasn't normal at all for him to act this way. She took his temperature there, and it had gone back to normal. When I put him down on his own to walk, he just acted really tired. She finally was a little more forceful at demanding answers from him and he finally snapped out of it. He told us that he was just really tired and didn't want to talk or answer us. (I think it was some sort of sleep walking that we had experienced, but we've never seen it before so it was scary for sure.) After hours of waiting, we finally saw the doctor who said she couldn't come up with anything wrong with him, and it was likely that he was partially asleep. She looked for signs for any brain diseases and he checked out fine. At 4am we headed home and got a little sleep. He ended up getting better the next day, but then his fever returned on Thursday along with a rash on his cheeks and wrists and ankles. On Friday he started a cough that lasted a few days, but he was fever free and we were all ready for him to go back to school on the following Monday.

This month Blake:

convinced everyone in the family to play Hay Day. He got really into this mobile game where you're a farmer and he convinced the rest of the family to download it too. Once we were all playing, we could connect and join the same neighborhood and share goods, and sell things to each other. It was pretty fun actually! After a few months, everyone has moved on to the next thing, but I'm still going strong, and I'm a much higher level than anyone else, haha.
lost his first tooth! He got his first wiggly tooth in just after his birthday, when he bit into a bagel. Then a few days later we had chicken drumsticks for dinner and he gave it a good rip and his other top front tooth started bleeding. The second one came out a week or so later after being extremely loose.
became interested in Minecraft. After a few months of being into farming, he decided to start watching YouTube videos about Minecraft. The last time we tried playing it, we never figured out how to get anywhere and there was a lot of frustration. This time, we had more info from watching other people play, so it has been a much more positive experience. Brett has even gotten into it, and they both play together peacefully for the most part. They've built houses, farmland, and mines to start with and I'm sure they'll come up with many more parts to their island. Of course, they play on the "peaceful" setting so no enemies come and scare them. We're playing on the PS3 so the options seem more limited than what you can do on the computer I think.

I didn't take very many pictures at the party, as I was trying to talk to everyone. I did get a few of the boys, and a group pic before we went to the party room.
