Blake:
- has been pushing everything around. He flies around the house behind his ABC train and walker mostly. He's finally figured out how to redirect them once he runs into something... however, if he has a toy in one hand and he's trying to drive something he'll normally start whining immediately since he needs both hands. He's been pushing tons of things around the floor including his tables, diaper boxes, the diaper trashcan, kitchen chairs, and the kitchen trashcan (which he's obsessed with since its a "no touch" object).
- knows how to communicate with us to get more of his Os (cheerios). We have been leaving a handful on one of the kitchen chairs for him to nibble at his leisure (yes like a cat) and if he runs out and needs more he'll whine to get our attention and then point up to the table where we keep them and then point and tap the chair. He's been eating tons of them lately too... maybe because his gums hurt because teeth are coming in??
- has been refusing pureed food or anything served to him on a spoon. If he doesn't have control over it, he will not you feed it to him. He has been pretty partial to hard food as well which makes me think he's teething as well. The only way I've figured out how to get him to eat it is if I give him his own spoon and he gets to dip it in and then finger paint with it on his tray. It distracts him enough to let me spoon feed him his fruits and veggies.
- had a really upset stomach and was pooping up to 6 times a day after getting him weaned. We were worried it was due to all the almond milk so we switched him over to rice milk and things seem to be much better.
- went through the whole bedtime routine with Daddy when I went on my first girl's night since Blake was born. I've been there for at least part of the bedtime routine every night so this was a big step. He did well even though it took much longer than normal.
- went over to the Hart's for a going away party and had a great time playing with all of Kalia's toys. He found some riding toys and a little pink doll stroller to push around and even loved on Kodi (very kid friendly yellow lab) which was really cute.
- will rub his face on something if you tell him it's soft or to give something/someone a hug. He loves feeling textures with his face apparently. That's how he loved on Kodi and that's what he does with his stuffed animals, soft blankets, pillows, touch and feel books... that's how he shows his affection too. We read this one book before bed called "Goodnight, I Love You" and he has to rub his face on the last page where there's a picture of a little boy snuggled under the covers with his teddy bear. So cute.
- likes stepping on things. It started with his colorful mats and then spread to books and anything he could find. He'll stand on them either to feel their texture with the bottom of his feet or to see if he can balance, I'm not sure which. It didn't go so well when he tried stepping on the Legos, they're pretty pointy.
- can climb onto the loveseat. He pulls as high as he can but needs just a little more height to get up there. He'll get so frustrated and whine and whine until he can get up there. He finally figured out he could use my leg to stand on and that gave him enough to climb up there. He was so proud of himself. Now I've been trying to teach him to not stand on the couch and how to get down safely when he's done. He tries to throw a leg up on other things that he wants to climb on as well, like his tables. And so it begins...
- likes sitting on soft seats (mostly on the ground). He likes the kitchen seat cushions (once he's pulled them onto the floor), pillows, the couch, any balled up blanket, etc. Then he proceeds to bounce on them.
- has figured out how to kick his leg over and straddle things after getting on the rocking horse at Gymboree. Now he'll do it on my belly when I'm lying on my back on the ground and jump up and down like he's riding a horse... ouch. He likes to wait until I have a full bladder which is always fun too.
A little game we play called "hands up, hands down".
We've started taking Blake to open gym at Gymboree on the weekends so Daddy can take part.
Checking out the lizards. Look at that belly. <3
Probably munching on some Os.
I can't get enough of his adorable little profile.
Someone has a cowlick... can we say Dennis the Menace?
Running down the hallway pushing his train.
He has to concentrate very hard to not run into things when he's going so fast.
We're outside so of course he has a stick in hand.
Listening to the calming nursery rhymes.
Loosening the baby proofing by pulling on the doors with all his body weight.
The front door mat is one of his favorite places to hang out. Ick.
Go go speed racer. The look of concentration and hunched shoulders just make me laugh.
So excited to be up on the loveseat.
So excited he can't handle it.
Blake was playing peek-a-boo with... his imaginary friend I guess.
Last girl's night with Kara living in Florida. :( However the meal was amazing at Olive Garden! I was quite glad Blake had been weaned a couple days at this point.
