- took a bath with Dove body wash in an attempt to help make his skin more moisturized... we couldn't rinse him off completely (if you've used Dove with a water softener you know how difficult it is to get off your skin) and he developed a nasty rash all over his belly and arms. We later tried the Dove bar of soap and had the same reaction. Poor boy has the most sensitive skin we've ever seen. =(
- has been eating more rice cereal. He gets about a teaspoon or so after his morning and evening bottle. He is doing much better at eating it and not drooling it down his face. It seems to work a little better when it's a little thicker.
- put himself to sleep for the first time. On Thursday night we went through our normal bedtime routine and he just wouldn't fall asleep while nursing (I was really hoping he would so I could file his razor-like nails, and if he's awake he's way too active to do it). Well, he decided he wasn't ready for bed, even after trying to walk him around and calm him for half an hour. I fed him another small bottle to top him off and see if that would do the trick... no luck. Finally, I just said goodnight and put him in his crib and watched the monitor from the other room. After about 10 mins of playing around with his feet and rolling around, he settled down and fell asleep. He was in a pretty good mood all day so there wasn't crying involved which made it much easier to let him put himself to sleep. That is a big milestone! He did it again on Saturday night, yay Blake!
- is getting really big in his swing and it just squeaks every time it rocks from one side to the other. Sadly, it is a really good place for him to nap since he's so used to it. One day soon we'll have to transition him to his crib for naps. At that point we won't have to walk around on tip toes in the main living area while he sleeps.
- has been pooping every other day. He waited 3 days this week and you can guess how things went on Day 3... long story short, he had a front blowout and then had his first shower.
- had 1% Cortisone treatment every morning and evening and his foot eczema seems much better. It's still not gone, but he doesn't scratch at it constantly now. We put socks on him in the morning so he won't get the meds in his mouth when he eats his feet, and he does not like those socks to stay on. He doesn't even need his hands to make his knee high socks disappear... he's quite the little Houdini.
- hung out with Mimi on Saturday while Mommy and Daddy got to go see another movie, thanks Mimi! We saw the Bourne Legacy and it was really good overall, and extra nice that the new Cobb Theater at the Countryside Mall has awesome leather seats that lean back and have extra leg room.
- has been napping longer than 30 min stretches. It could be that his feet are feeling better, or it could also be that his horrible congestion seems to be getting better. I think he might've had the same sickness that I had and I'm still battling all the extra sinus drainage even though it is much better than last week.
- tried sweet potatoes for his first solid food other than rice cereal. We pureed it with breast milk and he seemed to like it. He sees us eating food and he just wants to partake more of the time. Sadly, after an hour or so he broke out in a rash on his face so we're going to have him try it again in the morning and see if it was the sweet potatoes... who has a sweet potato allergy?
Week 24 Pics:
He was being super adorable just hanging out in the kitchen after rice cereal time.
I made this hat before Blake was born but he never got a chance to wear it... it's definitely too small now.
Apparently we spent a lot of time on the kitchen floor this week. This was our sweet potato experiment. Yum!
Always leaning forward for more.
